Super Short Choker Line

Introducing my newest line: Super Short Chokers! I paired my love of semiprecious gemstones and natural elements with my love of the choker necklace, and sat down to make several different combinations of this versatile necklace.

When I say short, I mean short! The average fit length of these is 14 inches, meaning they are longer than that end to end but they will fit a neck that measures 14 inches. They are great to wear alone or with another longer necklace or even a scarf. I love this length because they can be worn with this season's higher (warmer) necklines and still be seen! A few of them are a bit longer, 15" or 16", but the good thing about handmade is that I can make them to order! Any length you desire can be custom made for you!

Each necklace is one of a kind, but they all have a few things in common. I decided against using sterling silver clasps on these so I could keep the price lower. Instead, I handmade a toggle clasp using elements already used in the piece. The clasp of the turquiose necklace is made of turquoise, etc. Also I have used tiny charlotte beads throughout this line. Charlottes are special Czech glass seed beads that have been cut on one side. This gives the bead a sparkling faceted look that is much more elegant than a simple round bead. The charlottes keep the pieces lightweight but add interesting detail!

Aside from being a short necklace for a teenager or adult, this would also be perfect for a little girl. My daughter is ten years old and these fit her perfectly. I put one on her just to see how it fit and had to negotiate a cookie trade for its safe return!

So far I have made this style of choker using gemstones such as garnet, citrine, amethyst and jasper. There is even one made with carved bone! Green aventurine, Czech glass beads, green tourmaline and brass...the list goes on and on!

I have listed some of these for sale here and here. Others I will just bring to sell at the craft fair in November.
